March was another month of warm weather in Melbourne and another busy month inside the AA Diesel factory, designing and building a number of amazing truck bodies including this custom beavertail tray! Isuzu F-Series trucks are one of the most popular lines that we see regularly at AA Diesel, with our team having strong experience in installing truck trays on F-Series trucks.
We met with the truck’s owner to discover exactly what they needed out of their vehicle, and it was decided that our team would build a 9mt long beavertail tray. This would allow them easily transport equipment like excavators from site to site while also giving them ability to transport materials when needed. With these uses in mind our team got to work, preparing the truck for a wheelbase extension that would allow for the installation of this huge custom truck tray!
DESIGNING THE TRUCK TRAY
As mentioned above, one of the first steps in this build was the wheelbase extension process, something our team are capable of handling from start to finish. Wheelbase modifications like the above are one of our most requested services, and we take pride in our ability to both meet client expectations and deliver an outstanding result for each truck that comes in.
Once we had extended the rear chassis to achieve full length, we began installing the custom heavy duty tray onto the Isuzu F-Series truck. Built withHardened Wear Plate Steel, this tray was built to withstanding nearly any operating environment, and will serve the owner well for years to come.
To complete the functionality aspects of the tray we installed the twin hydraulic ramps on to the rear of the tray, giving it that famous beavertail look and giving the owner manual control of the truck on-site. This will allow them to easily deploy the ramps at their request, drive up heavy machinery direct onto the tray and then utilise the hydraulic controls to reset the ramps to their starting positions. Making the lives of drivers, truck owners and their clients so much easier!
CUSTOM BEAVERTAIL TRAY FEATURES
The special features on this beavertail tray don’t end there however, with our team adding several custom options upon our client’s request. To help them secure their truck’s load, we added six chain tie points along the sides of this tray, making it easy to strap on and strap off their equipment where required. As with all of our truck body builds, this custom truck tray also came with two-pack paint that matched the Isuzu F-Series pearl white body, making it shine out on the road.
To complete this build our team also installed a custom stainless steel toolbox underneath the truck tray, giving their team easy access to tools and equipment from job to job. Many of our clients request these if they are taking big teams to different jobs, preventing mess inside the truck’s cab before it can even get in! They are also a handy option for those on long-haul journeys, with experienced truck drivers able to store the tools they might need if their truck breaks down or needs some quick maintenance out on the road.
In the end this was another successful AA Diesel build, a custom beavertail tray that will significantly increase the functionality of this Isuzu truck. Our factory team were certainly happy with it once complete and out on the open road, and by all reports so are our client!
