We wrapped up winter with another busy month this August, completing a number of outstanding projects for clients including this custom Volvo truck tray for returning customer Civilcast. Having already built one truck tray for them recently, they came back to us wanting the full suite of AA Diesel customisation services, and we have to say for this job we certainly delivered!
This time around they wanted a truck tray to be installed on a new Volvo FH, with a wheelbase modification needed and Loadmac Mounting Kit to be installed. Luckily here at AA Diesel we specialise in creating the solutions our clients need to get the job done! Once we met with Civilcast to fully understand their needs for this project our team got to work, ready to build an outstanding custom Volvo truck tray.
DESIGNING THE TRUCK TRAY
The first step in build process for this custom Volvo truck tray was to shorten the truck’s wheelbase, allowing us to properly fit off the tray that Civilcast wanted on this Volvo FH. From there we repositioned the original towbar and incorporated a space for the Loadmac Mounting Kit that would soon be placed on the rear of the truck’s tray.
Wheelbase modifications like the above are one of our most requested services, and we take pride in our ability to both meet client expectations and deliver an outstanding result for each truck that comes in. We do everything ourselves in-house from start to finish, using our very own expert qualified engineer, and all under one VASS certificate.
With that modification process completed, we began installing the custom heavy duty tray that Civilcast needed on this Volvo, completed with a premium two-pack paint finish and hardened wear plate steel to ensure a long lasting truck tray. We ended up with a fantastic multi-use truck tray that will serve Civilcast well for years to come, especially with the below special features that give the Volvo FH that extra bit of shine!
Finishing Touches
As mentioned above, a key part of this truck tray build was the installation of a Loadmac Mounting Kit on to the rear of the Volvo FH truck tray. Mounting kits like the one in the photos below allow for a portable forklift to be secured to the back of the truck tray, making deliveries a breeze for both drivers and the clients they are delivering to. Have one of these installed on your truck is a fantastic option for businesses dropping off pallets and materials to multiple sites, allowing you to quickly zip in for a delivery and then quickly leave for the next one.
As you’ll see below, we also installed a Spanset safety strap system to allow Civilcast to secure their loads quicker without having to worry about mismatches straps. Underneath the truck tray we also installed two stainless steel toolboxes, giving their team access to what they need to complete each job on the road.
Another great build that both builder and client are very happy with! We can’t wait to see this Civilcast Volvo FH on the road, a job that our team can be quite proud of.
