Keeping the Australian Transport Industry Moving
When stage four restrictions came into effect around the start of August, AA Diesel Truck Bodies was deemed to be an essential business, providing ongoing support to the transport industry. To comply with Victorian Government regulations, stop the spread of COVID-19, and keep everyone safe, we implemented a series of strict safety and cleaning procedures to ensure the safety of our employees, customers, suppliers and the general public.
Despite the lockdowns, this didn’t stop the busy flow of work which has been ongoing for the majority of this year. In August we delivered a number of truck bodies including a range of tipper bodies, tray trucks, and custom truck bodies. One of our favourites from August was a Mercedes Benz for Gudbuilt Civil, which included battery relocation to fit a 4m Hardox tipper body.
Tipper Body Design
Before we build each tipper body, we take time to consult with our clients, ensuring each tipper is designed and built for the types of jobs they will be doing on a daily basis, and to their preferences.
Battery Relocation and Tipper Body Install
From the outset, we should mention that this Gudbuilt Mercedes Benz was exceptionally well maintained and looked pretty spectacular before it even got to us, so were pretty keen to work on it and make some improvements to make it even better for the owner.
Gudbuilt Civil wanted to maximise the body length of this tipper, which had previously been problematic because the original truck had a battery box behind the cabin, meaning it could only be fitted with a short chassis.
We went through a series of careful planning steps and agreed with Gudbuilt Civil to remove the left hand side fuel tank and fabricate a brand new battery box so that the battery could be relocated from behind the cabin to the left hand side of the chassis. This gave us a lot more room to work with, meaning we could then build and fabricate a tipper body that was 4 meters long, with 1150mm high sides.
All of our tipper bodies, including this one are made from Hardox Wear Plate steel, which provides long lasting durability in the tough Australian transport conditions. Each tipper body is custom built in-house using our specialised machinery.
