While Christmas is just around the corner our team have been able to finish off several fantastic builds before we take our holiday break, including this UD truck and trailer combo designed for Southside Trucks. They came to us wanted two premium bodies for one of their clients and our team certainly delivered, designing functional and high-capacity bodies that will allow the truck’s owner to get the job done each day.
After consulting with Southside on exactly what this truck would be utilised for, our team got to work, planning out the build process for these custom bodies and the features we would integrate to compliment them. This process ended with a fantastic result that we are sure the truck’s owner will love for years to come.
Custom UD Truck Body Design
For this UD Quon we built a 4800mm long by 1100mm high tipper body in-line with our client’s expectations. As always, this body (and the trailer body) was built with hardened wear plate steel that is sourced from premium suppliers from across Melbourne. This ensures our clients get a product that can withstand heavy impacts and loads throughout its operational lifespan, extending the owner’s ability to get the most out of their setup.
Complimenting this body was the installation of a 4-Stage Hidromas Hoist, giving the truck’s owner the ability to perform controlled deliveries with efficiency on-site. This tipper body, as well as the trailers tipper action, can be operated from within the truck cab, with our handheld controls allowing for easy operation. We also installed a Rockinger RO500 Tow Coupling on this tipper body, ensuring it would be able to easily transport the large trailer our team were also designing.
To finish this UD Quon truck body off, our team performed a full two-pack paint job, using a colour spectrometer to match the paintwork to the existing white on the truck cab. We would also do this for the trailer paintwork, finishing with a brilliant white setup that certainly shines out on the road!
Custom Tipper Trailer Design
While the UD Quon’s body is already at an impressive 4800mm x 1100mm, this custom tipper trailer is one of the biggest body’s we have designed. We created a tipper trailer body that matches the truck’s 1100mm of height but extends to 6100mm in length, ensuring our client has a truly maximised capacity out on the road. Our team also created the chassis for the truck trailer, something we proudly do in-house to ensure our clients get fantastic results. Complimenting this body are the premium parts we installed across the trailer, from the SAF INTRADISC axels and Air Ride Suspension to the genuine Narva tail lights installed on the back. Working with premium parts like this complements the workmanship and expertise of our engineering team, helping our clients get a job that doesn’t just work after delivery, but for years to come.
The truck’s owner also has a WABCO multi volt EBS brake system installed on this tipper trailer, along with a soon-to-be installed black PVC Razor Electric Tarp on both the trailer and truck body, ensuring their loads will be able to secured from site-to-site.
That owner will no doubt be happy with the work Southside Trucks and AA Diesel have done for them over the past few weeks, delivering a fantastic Christmas gift that we are sure they’ll love in 2025!
