Specialised Tray Project
In October, we delivered a number of truck bodies including a range of tipper bodies, tray trucks, and custom truck bodies. Amongst the truck trays we delivered, one of the more specialised projects included fitting a Kenworth T610 with a custom tray for Gippsland Truck Centre.
Project Planning
Before building each truck body, we always take time to consult with our clients, making sure that each truck tray is built to their individual and specific needs, and specialised for the types of work they do on a daily basis. This project in particular needed to meet a number of specific requirements so we made sure to consult extensively with our client ensuring that no details were missed.
Custom Tray and Rear Mounted Crane
After our consultation, this Kenworth T610 was to have a custom tray and rear mounted crane. Based on the crane positioning and required load size, the tray needed to squeeze as much length as possible. It was a challenge to install the tray with the maximum 6.5mt deck space. With a little bit of imagination and engineering, we were able to close the gap between the headboard and the cabin as well as extend the rear slightly which ensured that the deck achieved maximum length.
Some finishing touches included the fitting of two custom tool boxes, a tow bar positioned for the attachment of a trailer and a fall protection system on the tray itself. All our truck trays include a heavy duty 125mm RHS subframe, cross bearers spaced 350mm apart to avoid bowing, a 100mm PFC coaming rail, and are pre-cambered to avoid sagging.
Hardox Impact Strength and Durability
All of our truck and trailer bodies are made from Hardox Wear Plate steel, which provides long lasting durability in the tough Australian transport conditions. Each truck body is custom built in-house using the highest quality materials and our specialised machinery.
