Wrapping Up A Busy Year
It’s almost the end of the 2020, and we are still finalising a number of jobs for our clients to get them back on the road before the holiday break. Over the course of this year, we have built and fabricated several different types of truck bodies including tipper bodies, trays, trailers, wheelbase modifications, chip bins, and many others.
One of our highlights from December was building a custom tipper body with a three axle dog trailer onto a Western Star for MTS Excavations.
Truck Consultations and Planning
Before we start each truck body build, we take time to consult with our clients, ensuring each tipper and trailer is designed and suited for the types of jobs they will be doing on a daily basis, and to their preferences.
Custom Tipper and 3 Axle Dog Trailer Combo
Through some careful planning, we were able to maximise the length of the tipper body on the Western Star without a wheelbase modification, achieving a length of 4.5 metres, and 1.1 metre high sides. We also added an additional toolbox for extra capacity, and relocated and utilised the existing tyre pressure system.
The Western Star was also fitted with an AA Diesel Truck Bodies certified tow bar with Bartlett ball setup. We then finished off the tipper in a dark graphite grey with AA Diesel truck Bodies signature stainless strip and spray suppressant combination, along with custom colour matched stickers to include the client’s business name.
The trailer for this truck body project was a low profile three axle chassis. We know just how important it is to have the tipper body and trailer body height align exactly. In this case, the trailer body measured 5.3 metres in length with 1.1 metre high sides to match the height of the truck. We also equipped the trailer with air suspension, drum brakes, EBS and polished alloy rims.
And finally we matched the truck body colour and flair with the exact same AAD signature stainless strips, spray suppressant, and client brand name stickers.
All of our tipper bodies, including this tipper and dog combination, are made from Hardox Wear Plate steel, which provides long lasting durability in the tough Australian transport conditions. Each truck body is custom built in-house using the highest quality materials and our specialised machinery.
