Instant Asset Write Off
Even with the lockdowns, the volume of work at AA Diesel Truck Bodies shows no signs of slowing down and has been very busy since the beginning of this year, particularly since the announcement of the Federal Government’s Instant Asset Write Off scheme.
In September we delivered a significant number of truck bodies including a range of tray trucks, tipper bodies and custom projects. One of the standouts from September was UD, which included a tipper body, steel chip bin, canopy, and air operated barn doors.
Meticulous Truck Body Design
Like all our projects, this one involved a lot of careful planning. We took time to consult with the client about the kinds of jobs they would be doing on a daily basis, as well as their preferences, and then we designed the specifications for this truck body to suit those exact needs.
Tipper Body, Chipper Bin and Towing Assembly
For this UD, we first designed, built and fabricated a custom tipper body, which was 4.5m long and 1.7m high, with a capacity of 18 cubic metres. We then custom built a steel chip bin and canopy, which was fitted to the top of the tipper body. Rather than the traditional method of fitting square support sections inside the chip bin, we fitted pressed cross spacers for additional support and durability.
To make access easier and more practical for the client, we then fitted air operated barn doors, which can be secured to the side of the tipper to stop them from being caught by wind. A stow away ladder was also fitted to the rear of the body so the client can access the rear without overstepping or having to open the tailgate each time.
A 2200mm x 1500mm double entry toolbox was then fitted behind the cabin, along with two 600mm x 450mm x 450mm undermount toolboxes fitted below the tipper body. The was followed by the installation of a custom in-house designed pintle hook. To prevent overload on the pintle hook when towing, we fitted a 20 tonne pintle hook, with a recommended towing capacity of 14.5 tonnes.
All of our tipper bodies, including this one are made from Hardox Wear Plate steel, which provides long lasting durability in the tough Australian transport conditions. Each tipper body is custom built in-house using the highest quality materials and our specialised machinery.
