Truck Trays May
Despite the global pandemic, the number of enquiries and truck body projects does not seem to be slowing down at all, with major infrastructure works continuing across Australia. This month we delivered a number of truck tray bodies to clients across Victoria and interstate. Amongst all of the truck trays that we delivered this month, one of our favourite jobs was a custom tipping tray for an FM Volvo.
Custom DesigneD Trays
Before building each truck body, we consult with our clients to ensure that each truck tray is built to their unique and specific requirements, and tailored to the types of work they do on a regular basis.
Wheelbase Extension / Chassis Stretch
For this job, we first performed a wheelbase modification according to the Volvo manufacturer instructions, pressed the new chassis, and made sure it was double skinned for durability. We then adjusted the tail shafts, checked all the driveline angles and carefully extended the electronics and pneumatic lines. This was followed by in-house painting to match the existing chassis colour, and evaluated by our in-house engineer who issued a VASS certificate.
Tipping Tray
We then installed a 6.5 meter tipping tray, with a heavy duty chequer plate floor, hydraulic pump, and tie down rails. All of our truck trays, including this one, feature a heavy duty 125mm RHS sub-frame, cross bearers spaced 350mm apart to avoid bowing and 100mm PFC coaming rail. All truck trays are pre-cambered to avoid any potential sagging and are built only with materials made in-house using our highly specialised machinery. Finally, we finished things off by installing a Barttlet ball setup, allowing our client to connect a trailer, which in this case would be either a stock cart or grain bins, depending on the nature of the job.
